The challenge was redesigning a new mark and look that conveyed the rustic and vintage vibe John and Sean were going for.
It was important that it had a modern appeal, yet didn’t feel dated, so I spent a good amount of time in the research phase to be sure we could carve out a unique voice for their brand.
They had a previous logo which kept them feeling dated, so it was very important that we could bring the identity up-to-date without compromising the feel and voice the brewery had already established among its customers.
The solution was to create an identity that combined a custom rustic icon that was ownable with a beautiful classic serif typeface that helped to tie in the vintage/timeless feel of the brand.
I designed a custom illustrated beer barrel that focused on the rustic and vintage feel the E&H brand called for, pairing it with a slightly variated New Times Roman typeface.
Since E&H has several different products, I decided to create a primary identity with few a lockups ( variations) of the logo in order to help identify each product as their own, while still maintaining a cohesive brand voice.
